Pecera (Fishbowl)

Pecera (Fishbowl)

This short film is about a woman dealing with a number of "unfair dismissals" in her company. It also features the story of a woman who may or may not be dismissed herself... But how either scenario will end is anyone's guess.

Curious short film, and quite an interesting way to tell a rather open-ended and thoughtful situation.

(English subtitles available for this one, so why not watch Pecera now? Or are you tired of the office and would rather experience an idyllic situation?)

Chico Y Chepe

This short film is about two brothers, Chico and Chepe. They have been living on their own for a while, but they are about to meet some people who will change their lives forever.

Simple flick, but cute.

SOI420

This short film is about a weed dealer who plans to move with his girlfriend to Colombia. While everything is about set for the planned migration, things get messy as Luciano decides to take on one more job before leaving.

Indie in origin, but anchored in the sad reality of illegal dealing and relationships.

Ceviche

This short film is about a doctor and his son, one diagnosed as mentally imbalanced. While it tells the story of an old man worrying about his child, it also dabbles into talk of religion, madness, and reality.

Curious storytelling, but plenty of thought-provoking dialogue here.

Speechless

This short film about lesbians and the friends they fall in love with is part-movie, part-documentary. It features the story of two friends falling asleep on the same bed, while it also has snippets of live interviews with lesbians talking about their personal experiences.

I suppose human relationships, even those between women, aren't ever easy. (Here's another film about, in turn, a guy falling for his lady friend.)

En Espera (On Hold)

This short film is about a rural girl who is traveling to the city. Set amidst a number of scenic backdrops and everyday sights, this movie will show not just the beautiful sights of Ecuador, but also the startling reality of life for some children there.

RS-1281

This short film is about a human who is examined by an android. The test - to prove that he is, indeed, "human". While providing a backstory of how humans will inevitably ruin the Earth, this film also allows for thought-provoking dialogue on what makes humans different from robots.

La Mesa Servida (The Table Is Set)

This short film is about a man who steals pigs, supposedly to eat with his wife. Set amidst a town where very few people get to eat meat, this story goes from odd to downright silly as the days pass by.

Note: NSFW due to some sexual scenes, but what an ending.

Amanecer (Daybreak)

This short film is about a man struggling to provide for his family, who he moved with to Australia. The hardships he faces is as realistic as could be, but as sad as this film is, it also has its beautiful moments.

Deseos Encontrados (Found Pleasure)

This short film is about two girls who are best of friends, and how one of them may just have feelings for the other. It's interesting how this kind of scenario is applicable (and maybe more apparent) to everyone today, so be ever so mindful.

(Mi Amigo Jaime is a film of a similar nature, only with teen boys as its principal actors.)

Viaje Temporal

This fun short film is about a guy wanting to go back in time so he can keep himself from breaking the game console right after he completed his game. Features geekiness, a messy flat, and weirdly labeled cereal boxes. Actual time travel might just happen.

Fun stuff.

Inspiración (Inspiration)

If you were a writer working on your next book, what would you (not) do to get over your writer's block? Would you hire your favorite prostitute, and trust a seemingly shady man to give you "inspiration"?

How far would you (not) go?

Lo Que Quiero De Ti (What I Want From You)

This short film about two men, separately talking about their relationship to others, is really quite curious. On the one hand, you have a shy stalker, and on the other hand, you have a restless playboy. Of course, it takes a turn for the weird as they talk more about themselves, and how they view each other.

This movie personally leaves me thoughtful, and with the inkling to check out Nosferatu.

Frikis (Nerds)

This short film is about the relationship between a geeky guy and his girl. Reeking with video game nerdiness, this movie is told with animation, chiptune music, and plenty of geeky references.

Nerdiness aside, this actually shows some realistic sides of relationships - from joint shopping to sex to left-behind friends. It also informs us that maybe we do need to carry our phones with us at all times.

(Need more geek? Here's a short film with a comic book guy.)

Brutal Relax

Mr. Olivarez comes out of recovery to enjoy the beach. Apparently, he will have more fun than he thinks he could, gore and creatures from the sea notwithstanding.

This fun short film is brought to you by the same guys who made the bloody great short, Fist of Jesus.

Juan Con Miedo (Fearful John)

This short film about two kids, an old legend, and a haunted house is creepy, and really rather curious. Is the legend real or not?

Well, either way, fact is usually stranger than fiction.

El Último Canto Del Pájaro Cú (The Cu Bird's Last Song)

This short film about a man reminiscing his life while on a hospital bed is curious, yet somewhat sad. Interestingly, the story-telling is done with glimpses, mixed memories, and thoughts about the sea.

(The ending is reminiscent of the one in El Orden De Las Cosas.)

Ruedas (Wheels)

This short film, which is about a young boy who may not be able to fulfill his biking dream, brought out the tears in me. That someone that young should contract a terminal illness is just heart-breaking.

Very, very sweet.

No Me Ama (She Doesn't Love Me)

This short film about a couple traveling through Uruguay features an interesting monologue about a guy and his feelings for his girl. Is it about the words left unsaid, or the expression of love through little gestures?

Still, how cute.
