Merry Little Christmas

This short film is about the abuse a mother and daughter undergo through the hands of a man. Told with a number of bloodstains and visions of monsters, this movie shows the horribly terrible life of those who experience domestic abuse.

This one affected me very much. It's honestly very brutal, so steel yourself before watching this.

(By the way, El Orden De Las Cosas is another heart-breaking film that tackles domestic abuse.)

El Otro José (The Other Jose)

This short film is about a taxi cab driver who finds a life-changing moment after going through a rough ordeal - one wherein he gets a pretty bad rejection. His life - and his overall persona - will then seem to indeed change for the better... Or so they say. He'll show her that he has, anyhow.

This starts rather darkly, but it lightens up considerably as the movie progresses. Fun film.

Inspiración (Inspiration)

If you were a writer working on your next book, what would you (not) do to get over your writer's block? Would you hire your favorite prostitute, and trust a seemingly shady man to give you "inspiration"?

How far would you (not) go?

Muertas De Asco (Sick Death)

This short film features two sisters who are on their way to meet up their dad. They have a tied-up zombie in the trunk, and more zombies are on the open road.

Besides bloody entrails, circus acts, bounty hunters, and a mechanized monkey, this movie actually features pseudo-familial love amidst the zombie apocalypse.

(Interested in another zombie movie? Zombies and Cigarettes has that, and the awkward non-hero, too.)

Lo Que Quiero De Ti (What I Want From You)

This short film about two men, separately talking about their relationship to others, is really quite curious. On the one hand, you have a shy stalker, and on the other hand, you have a restless playboy. Of course, it takes a turn for the weird as they talk more about themselves, and how they view each other.

This movie personally leaves me thoughtful, and with the inkling to check out Nosferatu.

Dios Sólo Mira (God Only Watches)

This short film about a photojournalist taking a certain photo at Haiti in 2010 has more than just a controversy to unfold. It also has a moral debate, beautiful cinematography, and curious premonitions.

Would you have taken that photo?

Brutal Relax

Mr. Olivarez comes out of recovery to enjoy the beach. Apparently, he will have more fun than he thinks he could, gore and creatures from the sea notwithstanding.

This fun short film is brought to you by the same guys who made the bloody great short, Fist of Jesus.

Paraíso Perdido (Paradise Lost)

This short film is actually very tragic, but it's beautiful, too. There are just really some times when you can't help but feel so hopeless in life, and it can push you to do some horrible things.

Estocolmo

This short film is about a corrupt man with a shady lifestyle, and he is about to get an interesting revelation. Gritty, has some blood, and quite realistic in its own right.

Sometimes, you really don't (and maybe can't) know somebody, even if they're very close to you.

Zombies And Cigarettes

This short film about a sudden zombie attack at a mall reminds me of the movie/TV heroes who shine during crises exactly like this one. However, this film is not entirely about those kinds of heroes, but the regular people caught in such situations.

Ending was rather... anti-climactic, but in an interesting way.

70 M²

This film about a man caught in something dire while on his way to his girlfriend's is really quite sad. It's amazing how such a simple thing could embroil you into something, well, bloody.

Nevertheless, great suspenseful storytelling, and quite a turn of events.

Tiempodefecto

This film about a couple on the verge of a break up is one that struck my heart. I find it amazing how this has a kind of sci-fi vibe to it, and yet that vibe was merely used as a means to tell quite an interesting story.

But, oh, how very, very sad.

Ella

This short film about a man pining for a woman starts out very nicely... Until the foreboding sets in. Great storytelling on this one. Also, beware of stalkers.

FriendSheep

This silent short film is about a wolf among sheep. A feeling that something bad is going to happen lingers, but it sure has its happy feels, nevertheless.

La Cruz (The Cross)

What was supposedly a nice drive out by the countryside quickly turns into something sinister. Note to self: long, lonely roads are no place to practice my skills behind the wheel.

Probably NSFW, as there's some blood, among other things.

Fist of Jesus

A comedy slasher flick with incredibly gruesome gore, zombies, a killing Christ, and lots of fish. High tolerance is recommended - the gore is amazingly gross.

Definitely not for the faint-hearted. Probably Very NSFW. Nevertheless, silly fun.
