Despedidas

Saying goodbye is almost always the sweetest if there was someone to leave behind.

That being said, I laughed out a little too loudly for this 30-second film. Genius.

El Sombrero (The Hat)

Beautiful cinematography on this short film featuring a hat, though NSFW due to some titillating scenes.

I wish I would not quite get to the point wherein I could feel resignation right on my fingertips.

Ataque De Pánico! (Panic Attack!)

No need for long dialogue nor crazy scientists to make a great sci-fi flick. This one's got all the robots, aliens, and explosions you'll need - plus a killer soundtrack.

Diez Minutos (Ten Minutes)

A short film about a call center agent and her desperate customer. Pulls some heartstrings. Also made me think about the info we willingly give up to a stranger's picking.

Notably: Won the Goya Award for Best Fictional Short Film in 2004. (LMGTFY)

Mamá

Mamá is among the creepiest things I've seen so far. (And to think- it's only 3 minutes long!) Not watching that any time again soon.

Interestingly, this inspired the mainstream director Guillermo del Toro to make it into a full feature film, too.

Lo Que Haría (What Would I Do)

This short film is about a woman who is talking about her fictitious life to a telemarketer on the phone.

Would you make up a story for a stranger to believe you are someone else? I think I would, if my heart couldn't take it too.

Luminaris

An amazing short that got nominated for best short film at the 2011 Oscars.

I just love the premise, the movement, the music, the plot. Great use of stop motion animation. Simply beautiful.

La Leyenda Del Espantapájaros (The Legend of the Scarecrow)

La Leyenda Del EspantapájarosThis is an award-winning, heart-breaking animated film of a scarecrow amidst a world of unfriendly birds and fearful masters. A dark and tear-jerking story.

Horoscopo (Horoscope)

This is a fun little film with a fun narrator talking about a man, a woman, and their supposed differences due to their horoscopes.

Cute. Also NSFW.

Prescindibles (Dispensable)

This short film deals with a guy just trying to do his job, and yet he is made to take consequences for it. I understand that during hard times, sacrifices must be made. Poor guy, though.

Surprising (but awesome) endnote.

Sígueme

This one's a film about two men, a woman, and a special relationship. Features a sex scene (NSFW-worthy), and homosexuality comes to play here. I got a little surprised by the turn of events, but hey - it's a sign of the times.

This was said to have won an award at the Madrid International Gay and Lesbian Film Fest.

Pensar Eterno (Eternal Thought)

This may sound like an infomercial at times, but it's an interesting look into the life of a mom dealing with her child - a child diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Suffice to say that I learned a little something about the mental disorder, and have since taken care not to use the term "OCD" so carelessly.

*There are English subtitles for this, which you can enable as captions on the video.

Jesusito De Mi Vida (Dear Child Jesus)

An award-winning drama-packed film about a little boy fervently praying for Jesus to take away his fear. What an interesting end note.

Contra El Mar (Against The Sea)

This touching story of a young family living by the sea brought tears into my eyes.
